G10 Macro mode: Maui Lizard

Just finished downloading some of my personal images from our Maui vacation including shots from my new Canon G10 camera and I must admit I'm pretty impressed with what this thing delivers in terms of quality. I'm going to have to recommend this to all those looking for an all-in-one camera that can keep pace with a dslr but portable enough to actually keep with you most of the time. Just keep 'er under ISO 200 for serious work, but other than that it's pure beauty and fun to play with on the go. Prior to the trip I also picked up the Canon water housing wp-dc28 for it as well which is a blast!

Maui: day two and three

Yesterdays already a blur probably due to the fact that this morning started at 4:00am with a twisty drive up the Haleakala volcano. From Sea level to 10,000 ft. in roughly 30 miles. It's the greatest elevation gain in the shortest distance anywhere in the world. That's not mentioning that at the 6:20am sunrise it's still 29 degrees with a wind/sleet/rain that is downright bone chilling. All for the love of pictures!?! The rest of the day was overcast and rainy, but still managed some to shoot quite a bit including the sun finally breaking through as I found a nice little surf spot where some 8-10 year olds were absolutely ripping it up. Action and Landscape photography in Maui...days 2 & 3. Be warned, I have this weird obsession on this trip with capturing winding roads and trails in huge, vast landscapes. I think I miss my bikes. Or maybe it's my commercial photography mindset kicking in as I see some really cool ad work all over the place out here.

I love the islands of Hawaii. I always will. This year we (my wife will soon be joining) have the opportunity to spend a few weeks in Maui. I'll update this post throughout the trip with a few words accompanied by some photography, surf, landscapes, people, places.

Woke up to 24 degrees in Salt Lake City, Utah

my neighbor for 6 hours. cool guy from Ohio

Enjoyed the 50+ degree increase in about 6 hours.

Up the coast to Paia for sunset, a famous windsurfing spot

First full moon they've seen here in about two weeks. It's been raining constantly.
